SINGAPORE – Two men accused of transmitting obscene material in messaging application Telegram are now facing more charges involving pornography.

On Tuesday (Oct 22), Liong Tianwei was charged with three counts of transmitting pornographic material by electronic means. The 37-year-old, who was hauled to court last week, is already facing one charge for a similar offence.

He allegedly transmitted the pornographic material through Telegram into a chat group called SG Nasi Lemak on three separate occasions in June and July this year.

Leonard Teo Min Xuan, who is already facing one count of transmitting pornographic material by electronic means, now faces an additional charge.

The 26-year-old is accused of having pornography on his electronic devices on Oct 14.

The pair were among four people charged last Tuesday with one count of transmitting obscene materials by electronic means. The other two are Abdillah Sabaruddin, 17, and Justin Lee Han Shi, 19.

The two teenagers were handed an additional charge each last Friday. They are now also accused of having obscene materials on their electronic devices earlier this month.

Despite the gloomy, forbidding skies glowering over Marina Bay like a bad omen, Volocopter managed to conduct a maiden test flight this afternoon (Oct 22) — if only for a brief moment before the rain started pouring again. 

Earlier today, German air taxi pioneer Volocopter and UK-based urban air mobility infrastructure firm Skyports officially opened a prototype of the world’s first flying taxi airport, dubbed VoloPort. 

The prototype airport is located on the Float @ Marina Bay and hosts a static Volocopter 2X vehicle for display.

As you can see from the tweets by Engadget Senior Editor Richard Lai, the heavy rain very much dampened the start of the event.

An intelligent transport system must also be a wise system, Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan said on Monday (Oct 21).

“As a transport minister, I look beyond the technology element. Politically, what matters is that we have a transport system that is fast, safe, reliable and, very importantly, affordable for all people,” said Mr Khaw at the opening of the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress in Suntec Singapore.

“It must contribute to their quality of life, and this is what matters to them most.”

He was delivering his opening address to participants from over 80 countries in the first ITS congress hosted by Singapore.

Twenty-three people were taken to hospital after a lorry and van collided along Admiralty Road West on Monday morning (Oct 21).

Stomp contributor Lim alerted Stomp to the accident and shared photos he took while he was rushing to work at about 9.15am.

“The van was carrying helpers and the lorry was carrying foreign workers,” he said.

“Some of them had suffered scratches and they all were panicking.

“I couldn’t help as I was rushing to work but an ambulance soon arrived to tend to the victims.”

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident at about 9.07am.

Twenty-three people, aged between 21 and 37, were conscious when taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, a police spokesman said.

Police investigations are ongoing.

SINGAPORE – Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) on Monday (Oct 21) announced the rollout of various employee programmes, including 26 weeks of paid leave for new parents – both mothers and fathers.

This is part of its new initiative to improve the wellbeing of its staffers, and their work-life balance, the tech company said.

Other programmes include Parental Transition Support, Retirement Transition Support, as well as ‘Wellness Fridays’ where employees are encouraged to leave the office three hours early on one Friday each month to volunteer, focus on their physical/emotional health, or spend time on personal/career development.

In a press statement, HPE noted that it is implementing these innovative policies on paid parental leave and flexible working arrangements in recognition of the importance of equal parenting, and the role that workplace culture can play in supporting it.

SINGAPORE – Delivery service GrabFood is looking into an incident in which a rider was seen using his personal mobility device (PMD) on an expressway.

In a video posted on Facebook, a man wearing a GrabFood T-shirt is seen riding an e-scooter on the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE).

Facebook user Kurt Guo, who posted the clip, said that he saw the rider on the PIE, at the Upper Serangoon Road exit, at about 7.50pm on Saturday (Oct 19).

In the seven-second video, the PMD rider is seen on a chevron road marking on the expressway checking for traffic, before riding across the road towards the Kallang Park Connector.

GrabFood said in a comment on the video that it is looking into the incident and checking if the rider works with the company.

The Straits Times understands that the driver has not been identified yet.

Under the Road Traffic Act, it has been illegal for PMDs – such as e-scooters and hoverboards – to be used on roads since Jan 15, 2018.

One dude wanted to buy her bralette and offered cash on delivery. He asked her to “wear it until we meet” at Bayfront MRT.
