Many dream of being able to hold down and halt departing vehicles the way Captain America does in Civil War but few actually have the guts to do so.

That was until a bus allegedly drove off without waiting for this man who, in a fit of rage, threw himself in front of the ‘offending’ vehicle and physically attacked it on Friday night (Oct 18).

30-year-old eyewitness, Wu, shared as such in an interview with Lianhe Zaobao, recounting how the man was walking towards a bus stop along Beach Road, where two buses had already pulled into the station.

The man had presumably meant to board the 197 bus service behind. However, as there were plenty of people boarding and alighting the bus in front, the driver failed to notice the man and began to drive off.

Upon seeing his bus leaving, the man flew into a rage and threw himself onto the road, using his body to stop the bus from leaving.

Stomp contributor Carrine decided to sign up for Facebook Dating on Friday (Oct 18) and received a message from a match the next morning.

They exchanged numbers and started chatting but on Sunday afternoon, the conversation took a turn.

“It got really weird and nasty,” Carrine told Stomp.

“He started chatting with me through the Facebook Dating app and because I was seldom on Facebook, I agreed to continue the conversation through WhatsApp.

“He was chatty from the beginning, telling me about himself and asking me what I’m doing, where I’m from, where I live and so on.

“It was getting to the extent that I didn’t feel like sharing too much so I stopped for a while.

SINGAPORE – A property agent has been fined $30,000 and suspended for 12 months for faking offers and counteroffers in a private property transaction in a bid to get a bigger commission for himself at the expense of his client.

It is the highest sentence meted out so far to a property agent by the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA), the statutory board that regulates the real estate agency industry.

In a statement on Monday (Oct 21), the CEA said Ngu Ping Chuan James Ethan of PropNex Realty behaved unprofessionally and unethically while facilitating the purchase of a condominium unit in the eastern part of Singapore between 2016 and 2017.

The 39-year-old failed to represent his client’s best interest and instead prioritised his own profit from commissions, the CEA said.

“Ngu’s wrongful conduct caused his client to suffer a loss or disadvantage of about $20,000 to $30,000.”

In 2016, Ngu was engaged by a client to look for a condominium unit in the eastern part of Singapore that is more than 800 sq ft in size with a selling price of about $900,000.

They viewed a unit in March 2017 that had a price tag of $1.04 million.

Police are investigating are a road rage dispute that saw a lorry driver retrieving a wooden plank from his vehicle after he allegedly challenged Stomp contributor JK to a fight, a spokesman told Stomp.

The incident occurred along Tampines Central 1 on Saturday (Oct 19), at around 8.34am.

JK said he was turning into Tampines Concourse when a lorry, with the licence plate GBB6429Z, abruptly cut in front of his car, causing him to apply his emergency brakes.

He told Stomp: “Upon reaching the next traffic junction at Tampines Avenue 8, I got off my car to check on it. Shortly afterwards, the lorry came up from behind.

“The lorry driver opened his door, shouted Hokkien vulgarities at me and even said, ‘Drive into the wrong lane cannot ah?’

“I replied him, ‘Sure, but at least be apologetic,’ and went back into my car.”

Some people take the motivational quote “make your own path in life” way too literally.

Take this driver, for example, who was spotted cruising in his sedan along East Coast Park on one of its cycling paths on Friday morning (Oct 18).

The unusual sight was caught on camera by a jogger who shared it on SG Road Vigilante – SGRV’s Facebook page.

A black Nissan Sunny had sped past him while he was in the midst of his run. While he initially thought it was just a police vehicle, his suspicions got the better of him.

He followed behind the car as it routed around East Coast Lagoon Food Village before it came to a halt. Upon closer inspection, the driver turned out to be an “uncle” while his passengers were a group of ladies.

Shaming bad behaviour on public transport is practically a national pastime at this point. The latest case? A father who went a little too far with free-range parenting in the MRT.

The father has been slammed online after a photo of his toddler sitting on the floor near an MRT train door was shared to the Facebook group Complaint Singapore on Oct 18.

In the photo, the child was sitting precariously close to the train doors, with no one around her.

SINGAPORE – A barrier-free access ramp that took seven years to complete has led to Workers’ Party chief Pritam Singh sparring with a People’s Association (PA) grassroots adviser over what Mr Singh said are “double standards” for funding community improvement projects in opposition wards.

In a Facebook post last Tuesday (Oct 15), Mr Singh insinuated that the ramp at Block 108 Bedok Reservoir Road – first proposed in 2012 – was delayed because it was mooted by the opposition party.

This prompted the PA grassroots adviser, Mr Chua Eng Leong, to hit back last Saturday at Mr Singh’s “unsubstantiated” remarks, which he also labelled as “politically divisive and factually inaccurate”. Mr Chua was part of the losing People’s Action Party (PAP) team that ran against the WP in Aljunied GRC during the 2015 General Election.

SINGAPORE – Another chat group that is allegedly circulating obscene materials as well as pictures of commuters taken without their consent has surfaced on messaging application Telegram.

The police said they are aware of the private group chat “SharingIsCaring” and are looking into the matter.

On the chat group, users can share photographs of women and girls that they have taken in public places such as in the MRT, the AsiaOne website reported last Friday (Oct 18).

The group has more than 100 members, and images of children and pupils in their school uniforms are among the materials shared by its members.

The chat group is also used to share pornographic content, according to a Telegram user who shared screenshots of the chat group with AsiaOne.
