The daughter of Singaporean billionaire and Valencia owner Peter Lim is standing by her critical comments on Instagram of the Spanish La Liga club’s fans.
Among other things, Miss Kim Lim said the fans “can be quite crazy and stupid” and added: “So, stop writing stupid comments because you make yourself very filthy.”
The 24-year-old also stated in another post that she has “had enough” of the fans’ hateful comments, so she is “giving it back” to them.
She told The New Paper in a phone interview from the UK that initially, she did not allow the racist and lewd comments to affect her, but the insulting comments about her dad and the racist attitude of some of the fans were the last straw.
She said: “I couldn’t take it any more. I told myself that enough was enough, enough of getting bullied.”
According to Miss Lim, it started when she was on holiday in Manchester, UK, where she was also taking a look at her father’s hotel because she will be helping out in its Asian expansion.

She then posted a photo of tickets to a match between Manchester United and Arsenal, followed by a photo of her father’s room number, which bore his name and her lucky number.
“I saw it and sent a photo of it to my dad. I felt very touched as that number meant something to me – it is the day I was born,” she said.
“He told me that he loves me a lot, so I posted it as gratitude to him.”
But things turned ugly.
BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION
“I knew that if I posted that picture, something would happen, which was why I said that I’d be heading to Valencia after the match,” she said.
“I didn’t know that things would be blown out of proportion.
“Before my dad bought Valencia, I was already a fan of Man U. But it doesn’t mean that if I support Man U, I don’t support Valencia.”
Comments from fans started pouring in and their reactions were extreme, accusing Miss Lim of not respecting Valencia CF and that her father was not wanted in Valencia.
It got to a point where the comments had racial slurs in Spanish, telling Miss Lim and her family to “go home”. Some even hurled profanities at her.
“I understand a bit of Spanish and most of the comments came from men. Why would they swear at a lady like that?” said Miss Lim, adding that she was still calm when she saw the comments but lost her cool when fans started insulting her dad.
“They were cyberbullying and the profanities they said were ridiculous.
“I have to stand up for my family and I want to protect my dad, who loves me so much.
“I’m also not just standing up for myself, but for Asians as a whole.”
Her managers tried to calm her down and her friends helped her tone down the draft for her post, which was harsh.
Mr Lim was also recently jeered during a Valencia match.

Miss Lim said fans do not understand the amount of work that her family puts in.
She said: “We love the club a lot. We stand up together, and we go together as we support each other.
“The fans say they don’t see much of my dad and me, but it’s just that I don’t post a picture every time I watch a match.
“If time permits, I would even take a flight from Singapore to Valencia just to support (the team) and then head back.”
Miss Lim said it’s very difficult to appease fans, so she took a stand against the racism and cyberbullying.
When TNP asked her about her safety, she said: “Some fans said they would hunt me down but I am not scared as I think it’s silly.
“If it happens, it happens. But in the end, it’s they who will be punished.
“Right now, I am still angry, but I am too tired to think about it any more and I’m sure everyone can see for themselves.”
Cheers turn to jeers for S’pore billionaire
Singapore tycoon Peter Lim made headlines two years ago when he bought Spanish La Liga football club Valencia for $609 million.
Fans of the cash-strapped club, which has the third most supporters in Spain behind heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona, initially viewed Mr Lim as their “knight in shining armour”.

They had hopes that the billionaire investor would transform their team into one of the best in La Liga, as it used to be, and they would eventually go back to playing in the Champions League.
Mr Lim, 63, who has an estimated net worth of $2.4 billion, was ranked 11th on a Forbes list of the 50 richest people in Singapore this year.
His daughter, Kim, was also popular with the fans and was once hailed as Valencia’s “angel” after the team beat Real Madrid’s 22-game winning streak in a match in January last year.
The 24-year-old socialite, who is close to Seungri of K-pop boy group Big Bang fame, also once arranged for the band’s hit Fantastic Baby to be played at that match.
But as the club slipped in its ranking this year, the Spanish media and Valencia fans started to question Mr Lim’s commitment as he is rarely seen at the club’s matches.
For the first time, Mr Lim was booed at Sunday’s match when they drew against last-ranking Granada.
Valencia currently rank 16th of 20 teams in La Liga.

SINGAPORE — With the North-east Monsoon season expected to start later this month, there may be localised flash floods in low-lying areas on some days come December and January, said the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) and PUB on Thursday (Nov 24).
This would occur if heavy rain coincides with high tides. According to the MSS and PUB, high tides are expected on Dec 14 to 17, and Jan 13 to 15, reaching between 2.9m to 3.3m.
Between December to January, short-duration moderate to heavy thundery showers are also expected mostly in the afternoon and extending into the evening on some days, as well as two to four episodes of monsoon surges — periods of prolonged, widespread, moderate to heavy rain lasting between two and five days, occasional windy conditions, and cooler temperatures.
To prepare for the rainy season, officers from PUB have distributed flood advisories on how to protect belongings and premises against possible flash floods, to around 600 residents and shop-owners in low-lying and hotspot areas.
PUB has also inspected about 100 major construction worksites to ensure that that the drains around the sites are free-flowing, and is working with agencies and town councils to ensure drains and canals are clean and functioning effectively. The National Environment Agency, for instance, has increased the frequency of checks and cleaning of drains and Drop-Inlet Chambers.
Drainage improvement projects are currently on-going at 76 locations across Singapore. Works at the Sunset Way outlet drain are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2017 while works at Kallang River (between Bishan Road to Braddell Road) are expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2018. PUB also has plans to start drainage upgrading at 26 locations by year-end.
To monitor flood situations, PUB has a network of 170 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras to monitor real-time road conditions in low-lying areas and hotspots, as well as 206 water level sensors installed in major drains and canals to provide real-time data on water levels. Members of the public can view 49 of these CCTV images online, and access information on all water level sensors.
Based on 30-year climatological reference period from 1981 to 2010, an average of 18 rain days is expected in December, and 13 rain days in January. The North-east Monsoon season enters the dry phase from February to March.
SINGAPORE – A 41-year-old dog rescuer who allegedly mistreated a Siberian Husky at his terrace house was on Wednesday (Nov 23) charged with ill-treating an animal.
Alan Chiam Choon San is accused of kicking the dog’s body thrice, punching its head once and lifting it into the air by its collar at about 7.05am on May 23, at Loyang Green at Jalan Loyang Besar in Pasir Ris.
He also faces one count of keeping 22 dogs at a place which is not a dog farm, without the permission of the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA).
Chiam told the court he intends to plead guilty and wants to engage a lawyer to help mitigate his sentence.
The case will be mentioned again on Dec 28.
Chiam was flamed online after two video clips of him allegedly mistreating a husky went viral on the morning of May 23.
By that evening, one video had garnered over 400,000 views, while the other got more than 225,000 views.
He posted an apology on his Facebook page that afternoon.
In a statement on Wednesday (Nov 23), the AVA said the dog was taken to a vet for a medical examination and is currently being cared for by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
The maximum punishment for ill-treating an animal, for a first conviction, is a fine of up to $15,000 and up to 18 months’ jail; and for keeping more than three dogs in a place that is not a dog farm without AVA permission, a fine of up to $5,000.

Tried your best but didn’t succeed in getting Coldplay tickets?
Fret not because the British rock band has agreed to play one more night in Singapore next year.
Concert organiser Live Nation Lushington on Thursday (Nov 24) announced a second show for the band’s A Head Full of Dreams Tour on Mar 31 at the National Stadium.
The highly popular band was originally slated to perform for just one night on April 1.
But due to overwhelming demand, the band has added a second night to their concert.
There will also be additional tickets to be released for the first show.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday (Nov 25) at 10am.
On Monday, fans all over Singapore prepared to purchase their tickets online but not everyone managed to get past the virtual waiting room that customers are made to go through before selecting tickets or making their payment.
Tickets were sold out within 90 minutes. On Nov 17, some 12,000 pre-sale tickets were also sold out in one hour.
Angry fans took to Live Nation Lushington’s official Facebook page to complain and criticise the ticketing system. Some even claimed that the tickets weren’t actually sold out but were being sold on the resale market instead.
There was even a ticket limit ‘loophole’, where a fan reportedly managed to buy 28 tickets on her own.
However, the organiser took steps to void some of tickets that were re-sold online at inflated prices and promised to “open up a little more inventory in the coming days to cope with the very significant demand”.
They also added that the band was “aware of touts trying to profit” from the resale of tickets.
For tomorrow’s sale, there will be a limit for four tickets across all categories per transaction, said the organiser.
Here’s hoping that previously unlucky fans will finally score their coveted tickets.

Schooling was the main highlight of an MMA seminar spearheaded by ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee and younger brother Christian on Thursday, November 24, at the Evolve MMA Gym in Far East Square.
Schooling, who primarily came home to Singapore to be part of the Singapore Swimming Association’s golf charity event this past Tuesday — an event which raised $525,100 in support of the group — had an MMA crash course with the Lee siblings as he was taught the basics of the world’s fastest-growing sport.
Christian and Angela imparted to Schooling some basic MMA techniques as the swimming prodigy engaged in a number of striking and grappling drills, including how to throw punches and kicks in the proper form, and even how to latch on a rear naked choke.
Christian handled the striking aspect of the public workout, teaching Schooling the proper execution of straight punches, uppercuts, kicks, and knees.
Meanwhile, Angela imparted the trade secrets of her highly-regarded submission skills to Schooling. ONE’s reigning Atomweight World Champion holds five submission wins in her immaculate 6-0 MMA record.
Lacing up a pair of MMA gloves for the first time, Schooling revealed that it was a different but welcome experience for him, having had no background in martial arts. From all accounts, Schooling savored the opportunity to train with world-class MMA competitors like Angela and Christian.
Schooling mentioned that Angela Lee is one of his favorite MMA fighters. Angela carved her niche in the sporting scene this year by defeating MMA veteran Mei Yamaguchi to win the inaugural ONE Women’s Atomweight World Championship this past May.
When asked what he thought about the whole MMA workout, Schooling responded, “It’s really great cardio. I just did it for 20 minutes and I’m already out of breath.”
Angela, however, was quite impressed with the swimmer’s physical fitness.
“Joseph [Schooling] is a strong athlete, which I find very impressive. I know Olympic swimming doesn’t involve anything even remotely near fighting, but he just has that natural power. I was able to feel it while I was holding the pads,” Angela said.
While Schooling looked every bit of the new guy at the gym, Angela made it a point to let everyone know that Schooling may have what it takes to train in MMA full time, and maybe even traverse the path of a fighter.
“Being a fighter or a world champion in MMA is not an overnight success. A lot of hard work goes into it. No one is ever born a champion. A lot of people don’t see what goes on behind the scenes,” Angela said. “But Joseph is really strong and flexible, his body composition is perfect for martial arts. He’s a natural.”
The highly-touted Olympian is set to return to the United States on Friday, November 25, to resume his studies at the University of Texas as well as his preparation for the 2017 FINA World Masters Championships in Budapest.
The 21-year-old swimmer made history at the recently-concluded 2016 Rio Olympics as he became the first Singaporean to capture a gold medal in sport’s greatest competition.
Schooling clocked in at 50.39 seconds in Rio to win the 100-meter butterfly category, beating childhood hero Michael Phelps and making it to the Olympic podium in first place.
SINGAPORE – Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, who was walking the red carpet on Wednesday (Nov 23) night for the Singapore International Film Featival, declined to confirm her involvement in the highly anticipated new Star Trek: Discovery TV series.
“I think (network) CBS will make their own announcements, so we should just let them do it. But well, we grew up in the Star Trek generation, so of course, I’m a big fan,” Yeoh, 54, told The Straits Times and regional media.
The elegant actress of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) fame was the last person to walk the red carpet at Marina Bay Sands as the festival’s guest-of-honour.
She was preceded by Malaysian director Dain Iskandar Said and the glamorous cast of his new thriller Interchange, which opened the festival.
Over the next 1 1/2 weeks, more international film-makers and stars are due to make red carpet appearances to promote their films screening at the festival.
They include veteran Hong Kong action star Kara Wai and Taiwanese rock star Wu Bai for the action movie Mrs K, and Taiwanese heart-throb Kai Ko for The Road To Mandalay, his comeback film after he was arrested in Beijing for using marijuana two years ago (2014).
Hollywood director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, 2010) will also be in town to hold a masterclass, while American hottie actor James Marsden (Westworld, 2016) will attend a benefit dinner.
The festival, in its 27th edition, runs until Dec 4 and features more than 160 films from Singapore and around the world.
On Dec3, the Silver Screen Awards – the awards ceremony arm of the festival – will see the Cinema Legend Award being presented to Hong Kong veteran actor Simon Yam for his contributions to Asian cinema.
The SGIFF is part of the Singapore Media Festival, an umbrella event that also comprises the Asia TV Forum & Market, ScreenSingapore and Asian Television Awards.
