“It was later discovered that no such cat was allegedly being treated,” the police said at a media conference on Wednesday.

“The woman allegedly also forged a receipt to make her look like she had paid for medical expenses for the stray cat.”

Preliminary investigation revealed that about 60 people donated money in response to the woman’s crowdfunding activities.

The police said a 20-year-old man was also assisting in the investigation.

Convicted cheaters can be sentenced to up to 10 years in jail, a fine or both.

“Several differences”
According to members of the Facebook group Sayang Our Singapore’s Community Cats, the crowdfunding call was initiated by a user named Nora Nur.

The member called this a scam and posted a screenshot of a Nora Nur post seeking donations for a cat named Gogi. There is a photo of a cat and a medical bill receipt allegedly from the Frankel Veterinary Center.

A member of the team stated that she contacted the Frankel Veterinary Center, which stated in an email response, “There are several discrepancies that worry about the authenticity of the receipt, which shows that we are trying to fraudulently obtain the information that we have never provided. Services”.

In the Facebook update, Nora Nur said that Gogi is in Vietnam, not Singapore.

She admitted that Singapore’s veterinary bill was a “lie”, but the cat was sick and was being treated in Vietnam.

Nora Nur apologized and said that donors can contact her to get their money back.
