POLICE in Singapore have arrested a man who hacked into a woman’s Facebook account to ask for breast photos from several of her friends.

Local media reported that the man had duped the women into thinking that it was for a breast cancer awareness project.

The 27-year-old man was arrested near Orchard Road on Monday evening after an undisclosed number of women filed complains with police, according to an article in Kwong Wah Yit Poh as translated by The Star.

On May 2, the man sent out a message to one of the friends, masquerading as the woman who was doing a “project” to raise breast cancer awareness.

The “project” required the women to bare their breasts in the photographs.

“At first I felt it could be a scam and rejected the request. I also felt uneasy to show my body to others. However, she insisted and told me that she would pay me S$500 to S$600 (US$369 to US$443) as an allowance,” one woman said.

“After some discussion, I agreed to help my friend finish the project and I also told her that she didn’t have to pay me.”

The women only realized it was a scam after the friend informed them on Facebook about the account being hacked.

They then identified all the victims involved and lodged the police report.
