Singapore: Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Wednesday (October 20) that Singapore will extend its current COVID-19 restrictions for another month due to the need for more time to stabilize the situation. The stabilization phase restrictions began on September 27 and were originally scheduled to last until October 24, aiming to relieve the pressure on the country’s healthcare system. It has now been extended to November 21. Among other measures, social gatherings can only be held twice at most, and working from home becomes the default arrangement. “Unfortunately, given that our healthcare system is under constant pressure, more time is needed to stabilize the situation,” the Ministry of Health said at a media conference. It added that these measures will be reviewed within two weeks and then adjusted according to the COVID-19 community. The Ministry of Health said that current measures help “slow down the speed of transmission”, but the number of daily cases is still rising, and many vulnerable patients need intensive care. The number of new COVID-19 cases in Singapore hovered around 3,000 a day and reached a high of 3,994 on Tuesday. Pending review: LAWRENCE WONG
Finance Minister Huang Xuncai told reporters on Wednesday that with the medical system under pressure, it is “not just a question of adding beds or buying new equipment”. “Our medical staff are exhausted. Although we are working hard to strengthen the team, it will take time for these reinforcements to arrive. Under the current circumstances, we face a considerable risk of overwhelming the medical system,” said Mr. Huang. “This means that we must continue to implement stabilization measures for another month after October 25.” However, this does not mean that “measures will have to remain frozen or static throughout this entire month”, said the co-chair of the country’s COVID-19 task force. “We will continually review the situation in the coming weeks to see if there is any scope for calibrated easing and in instances where the risks are acceptable … we will consider moving first on these measures,” he said.
Singapore: Two foreign workers died after their truck collided with a stationary truck on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE). They were sitting in the back of the truck, closest to the cabin. On Wednesday (October 20), the state coroner Adam Nakhoda discovered that Mr. Hossain Toffazal, a 33-year-old Bangladeshi national, and Mr. Sugunan Sudheeshmon, a 28-year-old Indian national, died of multiple injuries and were involved in a road traffic accident. Match. The court learned that on the day of the accident on April 20 this year, Mr. Hussein and Mr. Su Gunan were sitting in the back of a truck with 14 other workers of Bright Asia Construction. On the morning of the accident, the truck driver heard the sound of a tire burst and drove his vehicle registered with Evergreen Waste Management to Changi along PIE’s 3 or 4 lanes. He parked the truck on the shoulder of the road before the Jalan Bahar exit, but due to the narrow shoulder, the truck partially protruded into the 5th lane of the 5-lane lane. The driver turned on the truck’s hazard lights to warn other approaching drivers, and got out of the truck to check the tires. He found that one of the tires had been punctured. Sequence of events
At the same time, the deceased and their colleagues were picked up by their truck driver in their dormitory in Tuas South. Mr. Hussein and Mr. Su Gunan were sitting in the back seat of the truck, closest to the left side of the cabin. Another 14 workers also sat in the back.
The court heard that the driver was sitting alone in the cabin while he was heading to Jurong West to pick him up in front of him.
The coroner said that there was no evidence that any workers were standing during the journey, and there was no evidence that the number of workers behind exceeded the number of workers that could be carried on the back of the truck.
The truck driver initially drove in the 4th lane of PIE, with an estimated speed of 60 kilometers per hour. As the truck approached the Jalan Bahar exit, the PIE widened to a five-lane road.
At about 6 in the morning, as the driver planned to exit from the Jalan Bahar exit, he changed lanes from lane 4 to lane 5, but only noticed the truck parked on the shoulder when he was about two trucks away.
He turned to the right and braked, but could not prevent the collision. The front left part of the truck collided with the rear right part of the truck, and 17 seconds after the truck stopped, the truck driver had not had time to post a failure sign.
The impact shrank the front of the truck and crushed the rear deck.
A minibus driver who arrived at the scene of the accident stopped his vehicle and called the police.
Condition of truck passengers The paramedics at the scene found that Mr. Hussein and Mr. Su Gunan were trapped in the back of the truck. It takes them about 30 minutes to rescue Mr. Hussein from a cardiac arrest.
Despite medical intervention, he died later that morning.
Mr. Sugunan was also rescued from the back of the truck, while the other 14 workers were taken to the hospital due to various injuries but survived.
Judge Nakhoda stated that Mr. Sugunan lost his pulse at 7:46 am, and his pulse recovered after CPR, but his prognosis was poor.
Despite receiving treatment, his condition deteriorated in the hospital and he was pronounced dead two days after the accident.
Mr. Hossain has worked for Bright Asia Construction for 10 years, and Mr. Sugunan has worked for two years. Their truck driver has worked for the same company for five years and is both the designated driver and the site supervisor.
The immediate family members of the deceased were unable to participate in the post-mortem investigation, but a representative of Bright Asia Construction Company stated that the company had provided assistance within its capacity to the families of both parties.
The coroner said there was no evidence of foul play and expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
After the accident, the truck driver was arrested for negligent driving and death.
In the next few months, there were calls to stop the practice of transporting foreign workers behind trucks.
Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Transport, stated in Parliament in May that the ministry is reviewing measures to use trucks to transport workers to improve safety.

Brands have already started removing ads featuring the heartthrob.
South Korean actor Kim Sun-ho’s latest drama “Hometown Chachacha” has recently received high ratings. He is plagued by rumors that he dumped his girlfriend after asking for an abortion, and he is not actually like an angel. He appeared in public.
It all started last Sunday (October 17), when a user on the South Korean online forum Nate Pann shared a lengthy post that exposed a “two-sided shameless” named “Actor K” True nature.
The predecessor of actor K also trumpeted the “two-sided” antics in his work. When he took over the TV series last year, he constantly complained that the plot was “childish” and “boring”, scolded the director and other actors, and made dull comments on the appearance and acting skills of his partner. He thanked the director and expressed his gratitude in front of the media until the show became popular unexpectedly. However, his predecessor was not amused and called his behavior “very disgusting.”
On Monday (October 18), entertainment reporter Lee Jin-ho conducted a live broadcast on YouTube and pointed out that actor K is 35-year-old Sun-ho.
A Korean news media also used a pixelated image of a man to report the story, but sharp-eyed fans quickly recognized that it was Sun Ho’s photo, which made the star even more embarrassed.
Sun-ho’s fans immediately rallied to defend their idol, urging the public not to make reckless guesses, and threatened to take legal action against those who continue to spread slander rumors.
Unfortunately, as the brands he endorsed (including Canon and Domino Pizza) began to remove posts and advertisements related to him from the page, the damage had already been done.
Strangely, Sun-ho’s agency, SALT Entertainment, has remained silent until this morning (October 19) to make any statement.
They apologized for not speaking up earlier and the trouble caused by the “unpleasant incident”. They explained that they were still trying to verify the truth behind the anonymous post and asked the public to wait patiently because it has not been confirmed.

Three former actresses, who all got their start in showbiz via Star Search, have remained close friends all these years.
46-year-old Constance Song held her first FB Live with 51-year-old former media star Cassandra See and 42-year-old Deborah Sim on her new Facebook page Constance’s MOMent on October 16.
The title of this information stream is “Yesterday Once More.” It is a catch-up meeting between three star search alumni to reminisce about the old days…Of course, it is also to promote Constance’s Facebook page.
Cassandra began to enter the show business after participating in Star Search in 1990, most famously for appearing in Mediacorp’s TV series, such as The Magnate, and The Unbeatables II and The Unbeatables III.
Deborah, like Constance, was a star-chaser alumnus in 1997, and has appeared in TV series such as Legend of the Eight Immortals, Stand By Me, Return of the Condor Heroes and so on.
Cassandra left the show business in the 2000s after marrying her German ex-husband who broke up in 2003. She is now married to a Korean man who works as a vice president in the hotel industry.
Deborah left New Media after his contract expired in 1999. She went overseas to pursue her career, then returned to Singapore and is said to be an oil broker now.
According to Constance, she started her own page to share her mother’s journey with other mummies. After all, Constance is now a mother of two children with two lovely daughters-Olycia, three and seven-month-old EL.
However, some of the conversation fragments of the three during the live broadcast are not entirely suitable for children.
It all started when Cassandra mentioned that Constance and Deborah had some very “R-rated” photos. Of course she was referring to the sexy photos taken by the two that day.
“It’s really sexy. When I saw it just now, I was like’my god’,” Cassandra said, and the trio agreed that if they reach 100 fans in the live broadcast, they will show the photo.
In any case, they hit the target in the 40th minute of the live broadcast, which is also the blessing of the audience for this moment.
“But actually, you can [find this photo] on Google,” Deborah said, while she flashed the photo on the screen.
According to Deborah, the FHM filming was completed when she was 26 years old, and in the words of Constance, “very juicy and sexy”.
“This is a very healthy topic because [Deborah] is young and healthy,” Cassandra said in the live broadcast.
Deborah even gamely recreated her pose to peals of laughter from Constance and Cassandra
After the stream ended, Constance took to her IG Story to share some throwback pictures of the trio, writing: “Had such a fun live [Facebook] session with these 2 lovely pals. Thank you for the laughter and sharing session.”.
What’s the easiest plant to grow? How do you know when you’re underwatering — or overwatering?
It is no secret that many people have started planting and gardening during the pandemic-yes, even those with brown thumbs. If you are new to this and have been working hard to keep your plants alive, don’t just be green and bear with it-we got some tips from a plant lover who has been in gardening for decades.
Meet Darren Ng (pictured below), who turned the terrace of his shophouse into a verdant mini jungle filled with more than 300 plants (check out his garden tour here).
The 52-year-old handles global processes at Swarovski and is one of the community garden leaders of the Siglap South CC community garden. He has been working in the gardening club since he was school. Here are some basic gardening tips from Darren to help you keep your home garden prosperous.
1: If you don’t plan, you will fail.
“If you are just starting out, you really need to know what you can handle and read the plants before you buy,” Darren told 8Days. “Understand the family conditions you can give plants, for example, whether you will put the plants indoors, on the balcony or in the garden. Then go find the plants you like.”
He advises against spending big prices on fashionable plants, such as variegated monsters that can cost up to $2,000. “Some newbies just buy expensive plants, the price of two leaves is about $500, and hope it can [survive]. Buy cheaper things first-there are many cheap plants that still look good.”
2: A fail-safe, easy to grow plant that costs less than $10.
According to Darren, Indian borage is “probably the easiest plant everyone should try to grow.” He added: “It’s about $6 per pot and it’s easy to find them in the nursery. It grows everywhere. I just throw it somewhere and it will grow up. It’s good for the throat. If you cough, you can. Pick a few leaves and put it in hot water to drink. It has a nice mint flavor, but it is easier to grow than mint.”
3: Brown leaves may be a sign of excessive watering or flooding. This is the way to distinguish differences.
The leaves of your plant have turned yellow. You ask Google for help. Many websites will tell you that brown leaves mean your plants are overwatered or submerged, which is not very helpful.
Darren explained: “Yes, overwatering and watering do have similar symptoms-the tip of the leaf turns yellowish or brown. But the brown part has a different texture [depending on the problem].
“If you water too much, the brown parts of the leaves will feel a little mushy. But if you are already underwater, the brown parts will be a bit brittle. So all you need to do is feel the leaves.”
4: Found spider mites on your plant? This is what you should do.
At some point in your gardening journey, you may have to face red spiders, one of the most common pests for plant owners.
“When the conditions are too hot and too dry, spider mites can occur,” Darren said. “Small white spots will appear on the leaves. In severe cases, almost the entire leaf will turn white. It is more obvious from the back of the leaves, so turn the leaves over to check for spider mites. The mites themselves are like small black spots, but they make the plant There are many white spots on the surface.
He recommended several methods to remove Starscream.
“If it is serious, I will remove the whole leaf. But if it is a mild infection, if you want to use organic matter, you can use neem oil. Otherwise, you can use sulfur soap and mix it with water and spray [ In the affected area].”
5: There is no one-size-fits-all plant care guide.
Serious novice plant owners will search the storm on Google to find out various ways to care for the plant, from how often to water it to which fertilizer to use. But it is important to know that “the same plant under different conditions may have to be treated differently,” Darren points out.
“Before you buy a plant, it is best to understand the conditions it needs, and then customize it according to your environment.
“Some people may say that a certain plant is watered every two to three days, but it depends on whether it is indoors or outdoors. If it is indoors, it may need to be watered every two to three days. But if you put the same The plants are placed outside with better ventilation, and you may need to water them every day.”
