SINGAPORE – Heavy traffic is expected to pass through the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints over the Good Friday long weekned.
The Immigrations & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said in a statement today that it expects heavy outgoing traffic on March 24 and 25, and even heavier incoming taffic on March 27.
With security checks, traffic build-up is inevitable, especially when a large number of travellers use the checkpoints at the same time, ICA said.
“To avoid a surge of travellers and vehicles seeking clearance at the land checkpoints, travellers are advised to adjust their travel plans if possibl,” it added.
To prevent delays, the authority suggested that travellers should check and ensure that they are using their own valid passports before setting off on their journey. The passports must have a remaining validity of six months or more.
Motorists are advised to check on the traffic situation at both land checkpoints before embarking on their journey. Those leaving Singapore by Woodlands or Tuas checkpoint will be able to know in advance the traffic situation from LTA’s Expressway Monitoring & Advisory System (EMAS) installed along the AYE and BKE respectively.
