Lorry driver hit 5 cars and woman in horrific accident in Serangoon Road
Serangoon Road residents woke up to a horrific accident this morning.
A lorry driver rammed into five cars and also hit a pedestrian who was flung metres away, apparently after losing control of his vehicle.
The driver, an Indian national working here, first hit the taxi and then the female pedestrian, before slamming into four cars in a carpark, reported Lianhe Wanbao.
As he reportedly lost control of the lorry, his vehicle also mounted a pavement and grass patch.
The woman, believed to be in her 20s, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital. A witness said she was bleeding from her wounds and had leg injury.
The taxi driver, who complained of chest pain, was also sent to hospital.
The accident happened around 7am this morning near the junction of Serangoon Road and Towner Road.

Iconic Ford Mustang reaching Singapore roads soon
SINGAPORE – Behold: More than half a century since its debut, the coveted Ford Mustang will finally be revving on Singapore roads.
The sixth-generation of the Ford Mustang is the first version to have right-hand drive models, allowing the American carmaker’s iconic “pony car” to be exported to customers in more than 100 markets around the world.
Local car enthusiast website Burnpavement wrote on Facebook that a model has been placed at local Ford agent Regent Motors’ showroom along Alexandria Road showroom.
It added that the dealer had quietly begun taking orders for the Ford Mustang 2.3A EcoBoost.
On its website, Regent Motors has put up photos of the car and its stylish interiors.
It has also posted a list of technical specifications, revealing that the Mustang comes with six-speed automatic transmission with manual override, can reach a top speed of 250km/h and can go from 0 to 100km/h in 5.5 seconds.
According to the website, the car will be available in eight colours: ruby red metallic, black, orange, deep impact blue metallic, guard metallic, ingot silver metallic, magnetic metallic and oxford white.
However, the colours buyers can choose will be subject to availability.
AsiaOne understands that the Mustang will be priced at $245,000, inclusive of Certificate Of Entitlement, and while interested parties can place pre-orders, it is not yet available for test drives.

Thai pilot jokes about crashing plane carrying ousted PM Yingluck
Bangkok – Thai budget airline carrier Nok Air apologised on Monday after one of its pilots joked about crashing a plane carrying ousted premier Yingluck Shinawatra.
The gaffe highlights how hatred towards the Shinawatra political clan still runs deep two years after Yingluck’s administration was toppled by a military coup.
The pilot’s comments were made in a social media chat group used by Nok Air pilots that was later leaked.
In it a pilot posted a picture of Yingluck about to board their Nok Air flight over the weekend. One chat member responded with “We have prey on board”. Another then added “CFIT”.
CFIT is an aviation acronym for “controlled flight into terrain”, a term used to describe when a pilot unintentionally crashes a plane that has no technical problems.
Panthongtae Shinawatra — the son of Yingluck’s brother Thaksin Shinawatra, who was toppled as premier by a 2006 coup — posted the leaked chat on his Facebook.
“Even if the messages about passengers were just kidding, they count as illegal and unacceptable,” he wrote.

Nok Air’s CEO Patee Sarasin wrote an open apology to Yingluck, saying the pilot’s comments did not reflect the company’s.
“The airline affirms that we work with good governance to serve all passengers equally with no discrimination,” he said, without elaborating what, if any, disciplinary action the pilot would face.
It is not the first time the Shinawatra family has been on the receiving end of airline hostility.
In 2012 Cathay Pacific sacked a Thai stewardess after she posted on Facebook about wanting to throw hot coffee in the face of one of Thaksin’s daughters.
The wealthy Shinawatra family are hugely popular in Thailand’s poor rural north, where voters have helped them or their proxies win every election since 2001.
That infuriates the Bangkok-based establishment, with its deep military and judicial ties, and arch-royalist southern supporters. They accuse the family of poisoning politics with nepotism and populist policies.
In a response to the Nok Air pilot’s comment Yingluck wrote on Facebook that “private attitudes should not be link with professional services”.

‘Les Misérables’ musical producers scrap male kissing scene in Singapore
A KISS between two male actors in a musical adaptation of ‘Les Misérables’ has offended some audience members in Singapore, according to reports.
Following complaints from the public, the producers of the musical decided to remove the scene from the production altogether.
Singapore’s Media Development Authority told the show’s organizer, Mediacorp VizPro, that the “General” rating it had given the show was based on a script that did not mention the same-sex kiss, local media reports said.
The authorities in Singapore are known for enforcing stringent guidelines for public performances. In February, Madonna was forced to tone down the sensuality of her concert in the city state to conform to the MDA’s standards.
According to the BBC, the ‘Les Miserables’ scene involved a brief peck on the lips during the song Beggars at the Feast. The show’s organizers said that the scene was intended to be comical.
“The inclusion of the same-sex kiss was not highlighted in the script when it was submitted to MDA for classification. The performance was thus given a ‘General’ rating,” the MDA was quoted as saying.
“MDA will take action against this breach of licensing conditions.”

Head of MediaCorp VizPro, Moses Lyethe, told local media that the scene has been adapted to exclude the kiss since June 3.
Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, ‘Les Misérables’ the musical is based the literary classic novel by Victor Hugo, which among other characters, chronicles the life of ex-convict Jean Valjean and his experience of redemption.
Last week, the Singaporean government asked international brands such as Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Bloomberg, and Apple to cease their sponsorship of Pink Dot, the country’s equivalent of the pro-LGBT Pride movement.
The non-profit organization organizes an annual rally of the same name, which was held on June 4 this year at Speakers’ Corner in Hong Lim Park, where supporters turned the park into a sea of pink.
Following queries as to whether the foreign companies were allowed to sponsor the event, MHA said: “Foreign entities should not interfere in domestic issues, especially political issues or controversial social issues with political overtones.”
