The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) has warned the public of a training organisation that is offering vouchers in exchange for individuals signing up for its courses.
The organisation then claims the individual’s SkillsFuture Credit via SingPass, WDA revealed in a Facebook post.
It is currently investigating the matter.
“WDA takes a serious view of any individual or organisation that abuses the SkillsFuture Credit scheme and will not hesitate to act against those who contravene our guidelines and terms on the use of SkillsFuture Credit,” the post dated July 15 added.
Those who are contacted by individuals or organisations with such offers should inform WDA via its feedback portal.
It also urged users to avoid sharing their SingPass account information with others.
In May, the WDA had warned of some individuals and organisations reaching out to members of the public offering cash in exchange for the use of their SkillsFuture Credit.
The SkillsFuture initiative, which kicked off in January, gives every Singaporean aged 25 and older $500 credit to pay for skills courses as it aims to promote lifelong learning.
There are currently more than 12,000 courses for Singaporeans to choose from.
More than 18,000 people had tapped their credit in the first three months of the year, Acting Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) Ong Ye Kung said in an update in Parliament in April.
Last Friday, the Government announced the chief executives for two new statutory boards – SkillsFuture Singapore and Workforce Singapore – meant to drive the initiative.
