KUALA LUMPUR – Bukit Aman has issued a warrant of arrest for an employee of North Korean airline Air Koryo to assist in the investigation into Kim Jong-nam’s murder.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the warrant was issued against Kim Uk-il, 37.

“We have given him time to co-operate but he has not done so.

“Thus, the warrant was issued to compel him to co-operate,” he said when contacted Friday.

Khalid also confirmed that a letter requesting the co-operation of North Korean embassy second secretary Hyon Kwan-song has been sent through Wisma Putra and delivered to the embassy.

Jong-nam was assassinated on Feb 13 by two women, who smeared his face with the deadly VX nerve agent at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 departure hall just before he was to take a flight to Macau.

The women – Indonesian Siti Aisyah and Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong – have been charged with the murder.
