SINGER Yuna (pic) has described her third album Chapters as “something new and fresh” in an interview with Harian Metro.
“I only wanted to focus on producing songs which are close to my heart,” said the 29-year-old singer, who is based in the United States.
Since its debut, Chapters has been ranked among the Top 20 R&B albums by Rolling Stone magazine editor Mosi Reeves.
Yuna said there was a time when she felt disappointed with the local music industry for only wanting her to produce the latest hits suitable for radio stations.
“While I was working on this album, I rid myself of that feeling.
“I was really excited with the songwriting and thrilled to have the chance to work with famous producers such as Fisticuffs, Robin Hannibal and DJ Premier,” she added.
The album also includes her latest song Crush, a duet with American R&B star Usher.
