SINGAPORE – A woman was hurt after a fire broke out at a condominium unit in Jurong East on Thursday (June 16).

The woman, who is in her 30s, sustained superficial burns on her face from the fire and was conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital for treatment.

In a statement, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it was alerted to a fire at the Parc Oasis condominium along 37 Jurong East Avenue 1 at about 10pm.

The fire started in a bedroom in a 12th-storey unit at the condo.

Two fire bikes, two fire engines, one red rhino, an ambulance and another support vehicle was dispatched to the scene.

There, SCDF officers used a water jet and two compressed air foam backpacks to put out the fire.

Around 40 residents at the condo had also been evacuated from the premises prior to SCDF’s arrival.

According to The Straits Times, preliminary investigations found that the fire was caused by a lit candle.
