It was a scene which wouldn’t be out of place in a Thai horror movie.
A long-haired woman was spotted sitting on the boot of a moving car on a busy road in Bangkok last week, which must have sent shivers down the spine of passing drivers and commuters.
According to Coconuts Bangkok, a video of the unusual scene was taken by Thai journalist, Powarit Katkul, and posted on Facebook by a colleague. Some versions of the video circulating on the Internet even bear the title – “Human being or ghost?”
The short clip, which has garnered more than 2 million views since it was uploaded on Sunday (Nov 13), shows the woman, who was wearing a striped tank top and shorts, perched nonchantly on top of the red Toyota Altis. The vehicle was reportedly moving at a speed of 60km/h.
The woman, believed to be a local, even waved her hands at the journalists’ car as it passed by.
Almost fearful that he had been seeing things, Powarit can be overheard in the video asking: “Do you see what I see?”
According to the Bangkok Post, the car owner and the woman have been summoned to the local police station for questioning.
Police say the charge of sitting on the outside of a moving vehicle carries a maximum fine of 500 baht (S$20).
