SINGAPORE – The lights were flashing along Haig Road, but it wasn’t the festive lights from the Geylang Serai Hari Raya Bazaar.
Next to a crowded bus stop stood a wrecked traffic police patrol vehicle with debris strewn on the roads – the aftermath of a high-speed chase.
Photos sent to citizen journalism website Stomp showed a mangled BMW car rear-ended by the police car, with the latter’s bonnet heavily damaged and air bags deployed.
The accident is believed to have occurred at 8.50pm today (June 26).
Stomp reported that before the collision, the police car’s sirens were blaring as it chased a vehicle.
The police car later collided into a BMW near a crowded bus stop, ChannelNews Asia reported. The driver that the police was chasing managed to flee.
Photos from Stomp showed a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) ambulance at the scene.
Police told Stomp investigations are ongoing.
