Sculptor Nonthivathn Chandhanaphalin passed away on Saturday night at the age of 70 after a battle with cancer.
The royal bathing rites will be held Monday from 4-5pm at Wat Klueywan on Arun Amarin Road in Thonburi’s Bangkok Yai area.
The funeral prayers begin at 6.30pm and will continue through January 29.
Nonthivathn was best known for designing and creating a prototype of the Mahajanaka commemorative coin that accompanied His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s book titled “The Story of Mahajanaka”.
It was launched to mark the 50th anniversary of the late King’s accession to the throne.
Born October 16, 1946 in Bangkok, Nonthivathn was one of the country’s best–known modern sculptors and created artworks reflecting Buddhist philosophy and nature for almost 50 years.
