SINGAPORE: Singapore residents will receive free reusable face masks from January 10, in another nationwide distribution by the Temasek Foundation.
Residents will be able to pick up a free MaskPure AIR+ reusable mask from any mask vending machine islandwide, the group said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Jan 6).
The free claim is from January 10th at 10am to January 23rd at 11:59pm.
The Temasek Foundation said in a press release: “There is ample stock of free masks, and there is no need to rush.”
Antibacterial masks designed by ST Engineering have an N95 filtration middle layer with a “particle filtration efficiency” of over 95%.
Temasek Foundation says the mask offers “proven” N95-grade filtration against PM2.5 and harmful particles, as well as antibacterial protection against 99.9% of viruses and bacteria.
The waterproof mask can be rinsed off once a week or when it gets dirty. If worn daily and rinsed once a week, its protection will last up to 30 rinses or more than 7 months.
After 30 flushes, the mask can continue to be used like a regular mask or can be used with other masks for added protection, the company said.
“Incorrect rinsing can reduce the effectiveness and durability of the mask,” added Temasek Foundation.
This mask is available in M and L sizes and is suitable for all adults and some older teens. These reusable masks are not available in child sizes.
As the sizing is different from previous distributions, Temasek Foundation reminds people to check their sizing at stayprepared.sg/sizing-guide before collecting or pre-ordering more masks.
For hygienic reasons, there will also be no exchanges or refunds after collection.
Additional pre-order masks
Temasek Foundation said additional masks can also be ordered online for S$13 each.
Pre-orders will start at stayprepared.sg/buymasks from Jan 10 to Jan 22. Residents can order up to five masks of each mask type, subject to availability.
Residents are also advised to collect and try on free masks to check the correct size before ordering more masks.
This is the fifth time Temasek Foundation has distributed free reusable masks after the first three rounds in 2020 and last year’s round.
