NEPAL – Taiwan hiker Liang Sheng-yueh, who was rescued last week after being lost in Nepal for 47 days, arrived home on Tuesday.
Liang, 21, went missing with his 19-year-old girlfriend, Liu Chen-chun, in early March while trekking in the remote Ganesh Himal area of northwestern Nepal.
Without a guide or porter, the couple lost their trail after a snowstorm and survived on snow, water and salt that they were carrying.
Liu died of starvation a few days before a rescue helicopter found them last week.
Tens of thousands of foreign hikers visit Nepal every year and are a key source of income in the cash-strapped nation that is home to Mount Everest.
