Margot Robbie clandestinely got married to British director Tom Ackerley in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia, over the weekend.
Sources confirmed to several news sites including Telegraph that the “Suicide Squad” actress, 26, and Ackerley covertly tied the knot with only family members witnessing the momentous event. They were engaged earlier this year.
Robbie’s mother and brothers Lachlan and Cameron were in attendance during the nuptials.
Meanwhile, her sister was the ceremony’s maid of honour. Speculations about a possible wedding arose when Robbie was photographed last week wearing a shirt that encrypted the words, “Say ‘I Do’ Down Under.”
The couple met on the set of World War 2 film “Suite Française” in 2013.
“We were friends for so long,” she mentioned during a May interview Vogue. “I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back.
Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him.’
And then it happened, and I was like, ‘Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.”
The actress, who was nominated for the Critics’ Choice Award, also starred in the movies “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” and “The Legend of Tarzan.”
She will be jump-starting 2017 by reprising her illustrious role as Harley Quinn in the upcoming “Suicide Squad” spinoff “Gotham City Sirens.”
