SINGAPORE – Despite ongoing controversy, local television actress Rui En turned up to receive her award at the Star Awards 2016 first show on Sunday night (April 17).
The actress, who was involved in a driving accident earlier this week, received the All Time Favourite Award along with actor Qi Yuwu.
Looking nervous, the actress apologised and thanked her colleagues and supporters for their guidance and unconditional love.
She said that while 2016 represented a milestone for her career, she was also going through a tough test in life.
Acknowedleging that she often wears her heart on her sleeve, the actress said her straightforward personality could provoke controversy and debate. She added that she wonders daily if she is suited for the industry.
She asked for forgiveness as she was unable to comment on the incident due to ongoing police investigations.
The actress paused several times in her speech, as her fans voiced their support and cheered her on.
“All these years, you have not left or given up on me. You have given me love and support, thank you,” she told her fans, before apologising once more and giving a 90-degree bow.
