It is no secret that Song Joong-ki has landed some of the most lucrative endorsement deals for ads in both China and Korea due to his recent role in KBS2 landmark drama “Descendants of the Sun.”
Chinese industry associates are saying that Song’s contract with Chinese cosmetic brand Proya is estimated to be a two-year deal worth 4 billion won (S$4.7 million). This tops past celebrity endorsements with other A-list hallyu stars such as Kim Soo-hyun and Lee Min-ho.
An insider also said that Song was able to pen the record-breaking deal due to the fact he had already completed his mandatory military service this May.
Song will be double-featured in the brand’s ad with top Chinese actress Ziyi Zhang.
Actor Song Joong-ki is currently promoting his Asia fan meeting tour, which kicked off in Seoul on April 17.
