SINGAPORE – Have you seen some lime green public buses plying the road of Singapore today (May 29)?
Well, don’t be alarmed. And yes, you can board them.
They belong to a fleet of buses owned by Tower Transit, Singapore’s third bus operator.
The first Tower Transit bus service 945 rolled out of Bukit Batok bus interchange at 5.30am this morning, The Straits Times reported.
Bus 945 is one of the nine services that Tower Transit launched on Sunday. Other services include 77, 106, 173, 177, 189, 941, 947 and 990 bus routes.
The nine services that were launched today were previously operated by SMRT.
In May last year, Tower Transit was awarded the tender to operate 26 routes in the western part of Singapore, beating incumbents SBS Transit and SMRT.
Come June, Tower Transit will take over and run the other 17 routes, which is currently operated by SBS.
