Singapore silat fighters claim 2 golds at world championship in Bali

SINGAPORE: Two local silat exponents on Thursday (Dec 8) brought home the gold medal in their respective weight class finals at the World Pencak Silat Championships.

According to the Singapore Silat Federation’s Facebook page, Sheik Farhan Sheik Alau’ddin defended his title in the Class J, 90-95kg final against Vietnamese Mach Quoc Hung, in a repeat of the final in Phuket almost two years ago.

His team-mate, Muhammad Shakir Juanda, defeated home favourite Firdhana Wahyu Putra in the Class I, 85-90kg final to take home the title, the federation said.

“Congrats to Team SG silat for bringing back 2 gold, 1 silver and 8 bronze,” it added.
