SINGAPORE – Customers here holding the Galaxy Note7 will be able to exchange their phones for another device, or return it and get a refund.
If exchanged for a device of a lower value, a refund of the price difference between devices will be given, a statement from Samsung Singapore said on Wednesday (Oct 12).
The statement added that the company is currently in discussions with telcos and retail partners on how Galaxy Note7 customers can go about the exchange or refund and said details will be available soon.
It also urged customers to take up the options when they are made available to them.
Samsung is also looking into remedies for Galaxy Note7 customers who purchased the Samsung Concierge service, said the statement.
Consumers can call 1800-7267864 for further assistance.
Earlier, a Samsung spokesman confirmed that the world’s largest smartphone maker has “permanently discontinued” the production of its latest flagship device, just two months after its launch.
The production halt follows several reports of the phone smoking and catching fire, mainly in the United States, Korea and Australia, according to media reports.
The Straits Times reported that some tens of thousands of customers in Singapore had exchanged their faulty Note7 for a replacement set last month as part of the global recall of 2.5 million handsets.
But the replacements were found to overheat and rapidly drained power while being charged.
