SINGAPORE – Singapore Airlines (SIA) has received its first Airbus A350 aircraft from Toulouse, France today (March 2).

The plane is the first of SIA’s 67 orders, including seven of an ultra-long-range variant for which the airline will be the launch customer.

The ultra-long range version of the aircraft has a flight capability of up to 19 hours and will enable non-stop flights to the US.

Singapore Airlines chief executive, Mr Goh Choon Phong, who attended the ceremony at Toulouse, said that the purchase of the 67 planes will boost SIA’s competitiveness and enable more non-stop flights for long-haul destinations.

Mr Goh added: “In addition to the latest technologies provided with the new aircraft, our customers will enjoy our latest-generation in-flight cabin products on the A350-900.”

Features include wider seats in the Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class, as well as a more advanced in-flight entertainment system.

AsiaOne will be heading down to Changi Airport on Thursday for a sneak peak of the new aircraft. Stay tuned for more pictures and videos!
