A private school in Andhra Pradesh, India, is in hot water after the management locked up 19 students who were late in paying their school fees, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The students, aged between five and 14, were supposed to sit for their examinations last Saturday but were told that they would not be allowed to until they settled the outstanding amounts.

They were then sent to a room and locked inside for more than two hours.

Their parents called the police, activists and the media, who rushed to the school and confronted the management.

The children were freed and allowed to sit for their tests.

Police are investigating the incident.
