SINGAPORE – An elderly man was rescued after hanging precariously from a clothes rack on the eighth floor at a HDB block in Tampines.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to a rescue call at 3.35pm on Monday (July 11) at Block 410 Tampines Street 41.

A reader sent citizen journalism website Stomp a video of the chilling rescue.

In the video, SCDF personnel could be seen in the units below and above.

At one point, an officer was seen rappelling down to the rack on the eighth storey to free the man.

SCDF told Stomp that the officer then guided the man onto a combined platform ladder, which was deployed from the foot of the block.

“He was conveyed to Changi General Hospital in a conscious and stable condition,” SCDF added.

It is unclear how the man ended up on the clothes rack.
