SINGAPORE – Samsung customers here who hold either an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement unit can choose to either exchange their device for a Galaxy S7 edge or receive a refund, starting from Oct 26.
They can do so from telecommunication operators and authorised retailers, including online at Lazada.sg or Samsung Experience Stores.
The move comes after reports of some handsets catching fire and exploding. Samsung recalled some 2.5 million units worldwide last month, including tens of thousands in Singapore.
“We are deeply sorry for the disappointment and frustration the Galaxy Note7 issue may have caused our customers and partners. Our focus now is to reduce further inconvenience to our customers who have trusted and waited for the Galaxy Note7,” said Mr Eugene Goh, Vice President, IT & Mobile, Samsung Electronics Singapore.
Those who choose to exchange their device for a Galaxy S7 edge will also receive cash and other benefits which will be confirmed shortly, said a Samsung Singpore spokesperson.
Samsung Concierge customers who opt to exchange their Galaxy Note7 device for the Galaxy S7 edge will have their Samsung Concierge services transferred to their Galaxy S7 edge and take effect from the date of the exchange.
Samsung Concierge customers who choose to receive a refund for their Galaxy Note7 will receive a refund of $38 for their Samsung Concierge.
How to go about the exchange or refund
From Oct 26, customers can visit www.samsung.com/sg/note7exchange to select their preference for exchange or refund, and provide their details for a free home delivery.
Customers will receive a cheque for the amount due to them, depending on their selection of the exchange or refund option.
The company said it is still working out the resolution for Galaxy Note7 customers with Samsung original Galaxy Note7 accessories and details will be announced soon.
For more information or further assistance, consumers can visit www.samsung.com/sg/note7exchange or call the hotline at 1800-7267864, said the company.
