29-year-old woman dies in bus accident at Toh Tuck Link

0

SINGAPORE – A 29-year-old woman has died after being run over by a bus at the junction of Toh Tuck Link and Toh Tuck Avenue on Thursday (Mar 11).

According to Lianhe Wanbao, Indonesian-Chinese Winny Pratiwi was on her lunch break when the accident occurred.

The Singapore PR was crossing the road by herself at about 12:30pm when a right-turning bus knocked her down.

After that, the bus continued to travel for about five to six metres before stopping.

The driver of the service 183 bus was arrested after being questioned by the police.

Paramedics declared Ms Pratiwi dead on the scene.

The Chinese Daily reported that Ms Pratiwi, an executive at a publishing firm, had done exceptionally well when she was a university student, appearing on the Dean’s List at her American University a total of five times.

Her employer told Lianhe Wanbao that Ms Pratiwi had been working at the firm for three years, and was a very efficient and hard working employee.

Angry customer throws 30 packets of beehoon at stall because of queue-cutter

0

A customer who claimed a beehoon stall assistant snubbed him was so irked that he ordered 30 packets of beehoon and violently threw them at the stall.

According to Lianhe Wanbao, the 29-year-old man accused the female stall assistant at a bee hoon stall at Block 17 Boon Keng Road of serving another customer who ordered after him.

Angered, he pointed at the stall assistant and asked why she had served the other customer first. He also asked if it was because he looked like he had “no money”.

When he was given his order, he smashed it on the floor and shouted: “One more packet!”

As the man appeared worked up, the stall holders did not fight back and gave him one more packet of beehoon. Just when they thought he would be appeased, the man took the second packet and threw it to the ground once more, repeating his order for one more packet.

After more than 10 minutes and 30 packets of beehoon, a worried bystander decided to call the police to prevent the incident from escalating any further.

An eye-witness told the Chinese daily that the man threw one packet of beehoon on an elderly man’s foot, but instead of apologising, glared at him and asked: “What do you want?”

The 60-year-old owner of the beehoon stall told Lianhe Wanbao that he had never seen the man in his 40 years of doing business in the area.

The angry customer only seemed to calm down when police arrived. Bystanders told Lianhe Wanbao that he reeked of alcohol and was eventually persuaded by the officers to leave.
