SINGAPORE: An estimated S$50,000 worth of vaporisers have been seized in the vicinity of Serangoon North, said the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) on Wednesday (Nov 30).
A 30-year-old man is currently assisting with investigations, added HSA in a media release. It said it identified the suspect’s peddling of vaporisers through online surveillance and investigation.
Officers raided the suspect’s house and another nearby storage area last Friday. In addition to the vaporisers, they found transaction records showing that the suspect had sold S$30,000 worth of vaporisers and related accessories on seven online platforms.

HSA said this was its largest raid to date in terms of seizure value and the scale of the peddler’s business.
The raid is part of ongoing efforts to deter the illegal peddling of vaporisers in Singapore, the authority added.
According to HSA, 13 people have been prosecuted for selling such products since 2011. The stiffest penalty meted out so far was S$64,500, for selling vaporisers illegally.

HSA also reminded the public that vaporisers are banned in Singapore. “The Authority will not hesitate to prosecute anyone who imports, distributes, offer for sale or sell vaporisers in Singapore. The public should also refrain from using vaporisers and discard any vaporisers they have in possession,” it said.
