SINGAPORE – President Tony Tan Keng Yam has written to Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun to convey his best wishes on the latter’s ascension to the throne.

“Your Majesty has been a source of solace and strength for the Thai people since the passing of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. I am confident that Your Majesty’s reign will usher in a new era of peace, prosperity and progress for Thailand,” President Tan wrote in a letter dated dated Dec 1.

He added that he has no doubt the bilateral co-operation between Singapore and Thailand will continue to strengthen and yield benefits for the people of both countries.

President Tan also invited King Maha Vajiralongkorn to visit Singapore at his earliest convenience.
