In the first match of the night at ONE: STATE OF WARRIORS in Yangon, Myanmar, local lethwei exponents Kat Pali and Phoe Thaw squared off in the first Myanmar Featherweight Tournament Semi Final.
Since debuting with ONE Championship in 2015, Phoe Thaw has worked diligently on his ground game to complement his lethwei striking skills, and it paid off inside a packed Thuwunna Indoor Stadium.
Once the bell rang to start the bout, Phoe Thaw rushed forward and secured a takedown almost instantly, moving to mount in the blink of an eye.
He then proceeded to rain relentless ground and pound on helpless ONE debutant Kat Pali, forcing veteran referee Yuji Shimada to wave the contest off just 22 seconds into the very first round
With the victory, Phoe Thaw advanced his fledgeling professional MMA record to 3-0, with all of his wins coming by way of first-round TKO.
He went on to face the winner of Ye Yint Aung vs Saw Yan Paing in the Myanmar Featherweight Tournament Final later in the night.
