SINGAPORE – Some commuters going home this evening (March 29) faced some delays when the Light Rail Transit (LRT) service in Sengkang broke down.

SBS Transit first tweeted about the disruption in service at Sengkang East at 7.56pm.

It cited “train fault” as the problem.

Channel NewsAsia reported that SBS staff arrived 20 minutes after the breakdown.

After attempts to restart the train failed, staff asked passengers to alight from the carriage and guided them towards Renjong station.

Commuters reportedly had to walk in near-darkness on the tracks, but most remained calm.

SBS Transit tweeted at 8.31pm that service resumed at 8.22pm. However, the train operator continued to offer free bus bridging services until 8.55pm.
