On track for a mega battle tank exercise

The Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) Leopard 2SG main battle tank (foreground) and the German armed forces’ Leopard 2A6 main battle tank participating in a live-firing drill in the Oberlausitz military training area in eastern Germany on Wednesday. More than 1,000 soldiers from the SAF armour units are involved in the 93-day bilateral exercise, dubbed Exercise Panzer Strike, which was started in 2009 and is now in its eighth instalment. The exercise this year is conducted in two phases, from March 2 to April 20, and from Sept 14 to Oct 26.
