SINGAPORE: A driver who crashed his car into a drain along Sims Way on Sunday night (Dec 17) abandoned his vehicle after the accident.
Police said they were alerted to the accident along Sims Way, towards Mountbatten Road at around 8.50pm. No injuries were reported, police added.
Channel NewsAsia understands that the driver abandoned the vehicle after the crash and authorities are still in the process of contacting the vehicle owner.

SINGAPORE: Changi Airport has set a new record in passenger movements within a calendar year in 2017, welcoming 60 million passengers on Monday (Dec 18).
Changi Airport Group said the airport now handles 10 million more passenger movements than five years ago. The number of passengers served this year beats last year’s record of 58.7 million passengers from around the world.
The 60 millionth passenger to arrive at the airport this year was among those on Scoot flight TR7 from Gold Coast, Australia, which landed at Changi Airport’s Terminal 2. Passengers from the flight were treated to a celebratory event, where six of them were selected to participate in a quiz game.

In a statement, Changi Airport Group CEO Lee Seow Hiang called the event a “proud moment”, adding that “it was only in 2012 that we marked our 50 million milestone”.
“With the new Terminal 4 and our upcoming development projects such as the expansion of Terminal 1, the Changi East project as well as new passenger terminal at Seletar Airport, we are ensuring that our country’s airports continue to have sufficient capacity to meet the region’s demand for air travel and in the decades ahead,” he said.
Changi Airport was named the world’s sixth busiest airport for international traffic in 2016, according to Airports Council International.
Dubai International Airport, which topped the list, saw more than 83 million passenger movements in 2016.
More details about the victims involved in an accident that occurred outside the Istana on Saturday morning (Dec 16) have emerged.
The fatal accident, which took place along Cavenagh Road at around 6am, left the 25-year-old car driver Khairul Anwar Mohd Sani and 21-year-old passenger Nurul Filzah dead.
Ms Filzah boyfriend, 28-year-old Johari Shariff, was also a passenger in the car and survived. He suffered injuries on the face but is currently in a stable condition.
All three victims were acquainted with one another.

According to Shin Min Daily News, Ms Filzah was an arts student who had just started her internship as a receptionist a few days prior to the accident. She was also an only child.
Her mother and a male companion had visited Mr Shariff in the hospital, and both of them left in tears.
Mr Shariff’s mother also tearfully told reporters: “[Nurul] was her only child!”
A friend said Ms Filzah and Mr Shariff had plans to get married.
Ms Filzah had attended a ball just before the tragedy, a relative told the media.
According to the relative, doctors said that Ms Filzah showed no signs of alcohol intoxication.
Her family are seeking more details about the accident.
SINGAPORE: Businesses will be required to use the Singapore Corporate Access (CorpPass) for their online transactions with the Government from the third quarter of 2018, the Government Technology Agency (GovTech) announced on Monday (Dec 18).
In a press release, it said this is “to create better efficiencies and a more secure digital ecosystem for businesses to thrive in a Smart Nation”.
GovTech said more than 80 per cent of businesses that have regular transactions with the Government have registered for and started using CorpPass.
It expects more than 250,000 active businesses to use CorpPass, for their online corporate transactions with the Government from the third quarter of 2018.
Businesses that have not registered for CorpPass should do so, GovTech said, as existing login methods, such as SingPass and EASY, will cease by then.
CorpPass will also be made available to foreign businesses in 2018.

Mr Kelvin Tan, who is working in a family-owned SME dealing with bottled food products is an early user of CorpPass.
According to the press release, he said: “the basic setup is user-friendly, and I have even managed to guide my OEM client through it with the help of a demo on Facebook. It helped that resources were readily available in the form of online materials and public briefings.”
Mr Chan Cheow Hoe, Government Chief Information Officer, GovTech said, “CorpPass is designed for all businesses, from multi-national companies to SMEs, and allows for greater data security, better control and enhanced convenience for business users when they transact with the Government. We are glad that the majority of businesses have started using CorpPass and strongly urge the rest to do so now.”
Industry partners, such as the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), have also been supportive in promoting CorpPass to their members.
Mr Koh Juan Kiat, Executive Director of SNEF, shared, “We saw the merits of having a digital identity for business transactions. We have been working with GovTech, and will continue to do so, to raise awareness and encourage our members to sign up early, to enjoy the convenience and security of using more than 130 Government digital services.”
In addition to the existing suite of digital services managed by over 50 Government agencies, businesses can transact with Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) using CorpPass by the third quarter of next year.
