SINGAPORE: Mobile coverage along the Circle Line (CCL) was suspended again on Friday morning (Nov 4) amid tests to identify the cause of intermittent signal interference.

“Due to ongoing tests, commuters travelling along the Circle Line will experience temporary suspension of telco signals,” the line’s operator SMRT posted on its Twitter account.

All three telcos confirmed the suspension, with M1 and Singtel saying that the delay will last until 9am.

Commuters also faced possible delays due to intermittent signal interference, SMRT said in a separate tweet. “For safety, CCL trains are manned this morning. We are sorry,” it said.

Signalling issues caused disruption and multiple delays on the Circle Line on Wednesday morning. The incident was similar to disruptions in September, but the cause of the repeated signal interference has yet to be determined.

LTA and SMRT have said they commenced feasibility studies to strengthen the existing signalling communications network. The options being explored include placing an electromagnetic shield on the train to minimise the impact of interfering signals, and changing the signal system frequency.
