Mediacorp wins Terrestrial Broadcaster of the Year for 13th time

SINGAPORE: Mediacorp has picked up the Terrestrial Broadcaster of the Year Award at the Asian Television Awards, held over two nights at Suntec City.

The Asian Television Awards is the most celebrated annual awards event in the region, recognising the best in television production, programming and performance.

Mediacorp garnered 62 nominations across 27 categories, and this is the 13th time in 21 years that it has won the Terrestrial Broadcaster of the Year trophy.

In the second night of the awards on Friday (Dec 2), Channel 5’s Death is Our Business took home the Best Reality Show award. Channel 5’s Carla Dunareanu was presented the Best Comedy Performance by an Actor/Actress for her role in Rojak while Suria’s Jeff Catz nabbed the Best Supporting Actor award for his work in Bunga Tanjong.

The night before, Mediacorp took home trophies for the Best Documentary Programme, Best Current Affairs Programme and Best Preschool Programme. This brings the broadcaster’s total haul of ATV awards this year to six.

Hosted by Adrian Pang, Stephanie Carrington, Alden Richards and Baki Zainal, the event was attended by regional stars and industry heavyweights. It also showcased performances by international performers like Charli XCX and local pop prince JJ Lin.
