TAIPEI, Taiwan – Taiwanese band Mayday performed 10 concerts at Hong Kong Coliseum on their Mayday Life Tour, taking their last bow on Tuesday.

Mayday’s lineup of guest performers included Alan Tam, Richie Jen, “Love off the Cuff” actors Shawn Yue and Miriam Yeung and other stars of Hong Kong.

In the last concert, the rock band delivered a surprise to the Hong Kong crowd: a music video for their new track “Life of Planet”.

The protagonist recruited for this music video is not a human being but “Ultraman Neos,” the protagonist of Japanese TV series “Ultraman,” who saves the world.

A consummate hero in the eyes of young adults born in the ’80s and ’90s, Ultraman Neos stirred a commotion in the crowd when he appeared onscreen.

His appearance in the music video marked the first time in his 50-year history that the Ultraman series had collaborated with artists outside of Japan.

On Tuesday, Ashin said emotionally: “We’re not the boss. You all are the boss. We have 10,000 bosses, and the five of us are employees who sing for you.”

“Life is limited, but May Dates are unlimited! See you next year!” the rock band pledged, bringing its 2017 “May Date” with Hong Kong to an end.
