RAUB – The Foreign Ministry has been instructed to present to the Cabinet an assessment of diplomatic ties with North Korea.

Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the Cabinet would decide on the diplomatic status between both countries after the ministry’s evaluation.

The Deputy Prime Minister said North Korea should respect Malaysia’s law and police force, Chemistry Department and Health Department in the course of their investigations.

Referring to North Korean Ambassador Kang Chol’s allegation that Malaysia was colluding with others, Dr Ahmad Zahid said it was uncalled for to accuse Malaysia as Malaysia did not accommodate or protect criminals.

“Respect our law. Don’t play reverse psychology. We do not want to be enemies with any other country but it is really uncalled for to accuse Malaysia of being in cahoots with anyone.

“Our forensic investigators, police and chemists are all experts and professional in their work.

“Please use diplomatic words and not otherwise,” Dr Ahmad Zahid said after visiting the Cure and Care Rehabilitation Centre in Sungai Ruan here yesterday.

To a question, Dr Ahmad Zahid said the “agents” who were in the country were here had proper documents as visitors.

In a press conference on Feb 17, Kang Chol claimed that Malaysia “had something to conceal” and was “colluding and playing into the gallery of external forces” in the investigation.
