SINGAPORE – Dating company, Lunch Actually Group, has officially acquired Indonesia’s biggest online dating service, Setipe.
A press release today (May 8) stated that this acquisition signifies a collaborative partnership between South East Asia’s largest dating company Lunch Actually Group and Setipe as the largest player in Indonesia.
Together, they will strengthen their foothold in the country by providing a holistic dating solution to address the needs of all serious singles in Indonesia – to help them find love.
Founder and CEO of Setipe, Razi Thalib, and his team at Setipe will join the 110 people-strong team of associates (also known as Cupids and Transformers) at the Lunch Actually Group.
According to Thalib: “After 3 years in operation, Setipe has gained impressive traction and growth but for us to monetise effectively, Indonesia still requires strong offline services due to low credit card penetration rates and less than half the population having Internet access.
“Lunch Actually Group brings tremendous value to the table by leveraging their vast experience, regional access and together with Setipe provide a comprehensive portfolio of dating services – from offline matchmaking, online and mobile dating app, as well as date coaching services.”
With this acquisition, Setipe will come under Lunch Actually Group’s stable of brands including Lunch Actually, esync, LunchClick and Lunch Actually Academy. The Group will serve a growing number of 2 million singles in Indonesia. Thalib will remain as CEO of Setipe and will also head up Lunch Actually Group’s Indonesian operations.
Violet Lim, CEO and co-founder of Lunch Actually Group said, “We are excited about the opportunities opened up by this acquisition and we are confident that we are now in an even stronger position to serve singles in Indonesia. We look forward to quadrupling our revenues in Indonesia by end this year and accelerating our goal of creating 1,000,000 happy marriages!”
