Linkin Park songs are usually nothing short on emotions, and the band recently put on one of the purest displays of genuine feelings during a live performance.

The rock group recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote their seventh studio album “One More Light”.

But instead of their usual lively and joyful performance, band members were visibly grief-stricken over the tragic passing of rock icon-and the band’s personal friend-Chris Cornell.

“We were gonna come out and play ‘Heavy’ first, but in light of our dear friend Chris Cornell passing away, we decided to play ‘One More Light’ in honour of him,” Linkin Park’s lead vocalist Chester Bennington told the crowd before their performance.

“We love you, Chris,” he proudly proclaimed.

The song’s emotional lyrics grew even more touching, as the band members struggled to keep straight faces throughout the duration of the performance.

Prior to his sudden death, Cornell collaborated on multiple occasions with Linkin Park and developed a lasting friendship with the band-particularly with Bennington.

In his personal Instagram account, Bennington also honoured the memory of his fallen comrade with a heartfelt message.

With all of my love Chris.

With all of my love Chris.
