SINGAPORE: Residents in the North East district can now access various services from six government agencies – like look for jobs or ask about their outstanding mortgage loans – 24-hours a day from a one-stop shop at Our Tampines Hub.
The Public Service Centre was revealed at the launch of the first phase of Our Tampines Hub on Sunday (Nov 27), giving residents a first glimpse of what to expect when it fully opens mid next year.
The six agencies involved are:
– People’s Association, where residents can register for PA activities or apply for financial assistance schemes;
– North East Community Development Council. Its new Community Employment Programme aims to help job seekers through interim employment. Residents above 62 years old who wish to contribute to society can also look for part-time community jobs;
– Housing Development Board, which deals with all housing matters. There is also an e-kiosk for payments like renewal of season parking or parking fines;
– Workforce Development Authority, where residents can get help in job-matching, register for workshops to prepare them for the workforce, and find out about recruitment events;
– Ministry of Social and Family Development, that helps low-income families through financial assistance; and
– ActiveSG, where the public can sign up for a variety of sports programmes.

These services can be accessed at any time of the day, through the 24-hour e-Lobby and the Citizen Connect Centre.
Besides the Public Service Centre, residents can start enjoying activities like Laser Quest and rock-climbing at the HomeTeamNS Clubhouse, and playing badminton at one of the hub’s 20 courts. There are also other facilities like a community health centre, a hawker centre and a shopping mall.
The 24-hour hawker centre, which is run by Kopitiam, has nearly 800 seats and features 42 stalls – 13 of which are halal – offering local and international fare.
Our Tampines Hub will also be a “living lab” to cultivate environmental-friendliness. Waste generated from the supermarket and restaurants will be converted daily into organic fertiliser and non-potable water for the surrounding greenery.
