SEOUL – Actor Kim Seong Min, 43, who was found unconscious after a suicide attempt following a fight with his wife on Friday, was declared brain dead yesterday.
The Seoul St Mary’s Hospital’s medical team in charge of his case pronounced him brain dead around 8.45am, the hospital said in a press conference yesterday afternoon.
Surgery was scheduled for 6pm to remove organs for transplant.
A total of five patients will receive Kim’s organs, including his kidney, liver, intestines and corneas, said the hospital.

Kim’s wife and son had agreed to the action as he had expressed his wish to donate his organs upon death.
Once the operation is completed, he will be declared dead following the removal of respiratory equipment.
The wake will be at the hospital and a funeral will be held tomorrow.
