Do you remember when Kanye West went on Twitter and asked Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg for $1 billion (S$1.3 billion) to invest in his “ideas”?

Well, surprisingly enough, he didn’t get a response and the rap megastar has apparently figured out the fairly obvious reason why.

He should have written to Zuckerberg on Facebook rather than tweeting.

“Yes, I should have put it on Facebook. Now I understand why he didn’t hit me back,” West admitted on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show Thursday.

“I understand that Zuckerberg doesn’t use Twitter even though I have had dinner with him and his wife and told him about how I wanted to help the world.”

West’s plea for the $1 billion came during one of his Twitter tirades in February in which he claimed he was in $53 million worth of personal debt. He also asked Alphabet Chief Executive Larry Page for some money.

There was even a GoFundMe page for the rapper set up which raised about $7,300.

West declined the money and it was instead given to Notes for Notes, a non-profit organisation which builds, equips and staffs after-school recording studios.

Apparently West needs the money from Zuckerberg to fuel great ideas he has.

“I feel like that if I had more resources I can help more people. I have ideas that can make the human race existence within our 100 years better. Period,” the rapper said.

The comments came during a wide-ranging rant on Ellen’s show in which he talked about his clothing line and US President Barack Obama.
