Jessica Chastain introduces durians to Jimmy Kimmel

They know it as the ‘bleu cheese of fruit’ but we call it the durian.

On Wednesday (April 20), actress Jessica Chastain dropped by Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show with a smelly surprise in hand – durians!

“Is this a prank?” Kimmel asked in disbelief as Chastain introduced what it was.

And after prying the thorny fruit open with gloves on and a knife, Kimmel recoiled saying: “It (the smell) attacked me! It’s foul!”

Chastain however was more than used to it, having first tried the pungent fruit in Singapore and then later on in Thailand while she was on tour promoting her latest movie, Huntsman: Winter’s War.

Comparing the durian’s odour to that of a garbage can, Chastain said: “I love it though! It tastes like onions, garlic, avocado and pineapple in a custard.”

When she tasted the durian in Asia, she wasn’t sure if she was going to like it, but two bites into it and she had fallen in love with the king of fruits.

“The first bite, you’re like, ‘I’m not sure if I like this.’ And the second one, it’s amazing,” she added.
