Indie music festival Laneway returns in 2017

Indie music festival Laneway will be back for its seventh outing in Singapore at The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay on Jan 21, 2017.The acts performing over four stages will be announced at a later date.

Laneway is one of the top draws in the annual concert calendar here. Attendance at the event has grown from 6,000 in its first outing in 2011 to 13,000 in January this year.

Past line-ups have included global marquee names in indie music such as Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches, British indie rock band 1975 and British electronic singer FKA Twigs.

Over the years, an increasing number of home-grown acts, including rock ‘n’ roll band Cashew Chemists, art-rock band The Observatory and artists from electronic music collective Syndicate, have joined the festival’s line-up.

Also known by its full name, St Jerome’s Laneway Festival , the event originated in Melbourne, Australia, in 2005 and is now staged annually in other Australian cities such as Sydney as well as in Auckland, New Zealand.
