SINGAPORE – There are a million and one ways to make a comeback.
Unfortunately for Singapore Idol 2004 finalist, an extra-marital affair scandal seemed timely ahead of his new album launch.
Three months after news broke of the scandal the former husband of Sim’s alleged lover was reportedly found dead, according to Chinese evening newspaper Shin Min Daily News.
The woman in question only wants to be known as Ms L.
According to the report, Mr Ng Song Yang, a 35-year-old businessman died in his sleep. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted to the situation at 7.24am on Wednesday morning (April 27) at a flat in Jurong East.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
Sim’s alleged lover, a 24-year-old singer and fellow colleague at entertainment company Unplugged, had married Mr Ng in December 2014. The pair divorced a year later in Dec 2015.
Mr Ng’s sister told reporters that he had returned home drunk, but otherwise, only suffered from sinusitis and wasn’t afflicted with any form of illness.
She added that Mr Ng was depressed after problems in his marriage surfaced. He had difficulty sleeping and could not eat for four to five days.
“It took him a long time to cheer up, I never thought he would leave so soon,” she said.
Although Mr Ng and Ms L had divorced, the latter said that she will still pay her last respects. She said: “Others can blame me, but regardless of what they say, I will still send you off. After all, we were once married.”
Earlier this year, Sim was accused of having an affair with Ms L after screenshots of “flirtatious” text conversations circulated on citizen journalism website Stomp.
He later clarified that the woman was just a colleague and that he was only trying to cheer her up.
In response to the allegations of the affair, Unplugged had asked both Sim and Ms L to maintain a professional distance from each other.
