Busy traffic, loud noise and constant passers-by? Not the problem with these cats.
Four legs of the “assistant” can be found in some shops in Hong Kong, the city kept in a hurry through the store at the same time, keep the business of non-binding vision.
Their presence inspired the Dutch photographer Marcel Heijnen to make them a unique subject for a book and recent exhibitions – capturing some of their most traditional communities in the city.
The pictures show all shapes and colors of the cat: the owner of their field, either on the goods, on the table, or almost mixed into the monitor.
“They’re cold, they’re very Zen, they see people coming in and out every day, they have trucks unloading, people walk around with boxes, they’re very uncomfortable and they sit on top of everything,” Heijnen said.
There is nothing famous in Hong Kong celebrity shop cat-cream brother.
British Shorthair has nearly 200,000 fans on Facebook, attracting a large number of fans, including his store closed in 2016.
He is also behind several books, served as an advertising campaign, and has his own “Butterbrook” Foundation to help the unfortunate cats.
Now a little semi-retired, he has regulars.
“I think he is a very special cat, handsome, very cute,” a bank teller, once a week to visit him twice at home, said Wu En.
Such a reputation is unexpected, said his master Ko Chee-shing, but it is a natural life to come to the convenience store cat.
“His character is really like a star and he will sit down and let you shoot him. Every day hundreds of people come to our store to take pictures of him and he will stand up and pull a lovely face or just sleep and let people Take his picture.
For Heijnen, the photo also points to a nostalgic stay in a changing city.
“I think the only thing in the photo is that it captures the background,” he says while a favorite subject sits in the boxes stacked in the background of the goods.
“So it’s not just cats, it’s about shops, in many of my photos, you see … 90% of the shops and cats are very small and these are very traditional stores and they are very likely these photos Shot in the 60’s.
