The findings have been handed to Paitoon’s boss, the director of Chokchaisamakkee School, and he will know his punishment within 15 days.

Paitoon faces being suspended or demoted or he may get his salary cut.

Secondary Education Service Area 31 Office director Chukiat Wisessena said yesterday that the three-member fact-finding committee led by Suranaree Wittaya School director Samak Waiyakhuntode believed Paitoon threw the mug at a group of students but did not intend to hit Naruedee.

Chukiat said Naruedee Chodsantiah’s classmates told the panel the cup hit the edge of window frame before hitting the girl’s head.

Chukiat said the committee found that Paitoon had violated the Civil Teacher and Education Personnel Act’s Article 94 which required a teacher to maintain their reputation and the dignity of their civil service position.

The committee will pass their findings to Chokchaisamakkee School director Nipon Pakdeekaew, with another committee to be set up to consider the punishment.

Naruedee sustained a deformed lip while her left eye could no longer fully close after the incident.

Following widespread criticism of the teacher on social media, the Secondary Education Service Area 31 Office, which oversees Chokchaisamakkee School, launched the investigation and transferred Paitoon, 58, to an inactive post at another school while it was carried out.

Chukiat said Paitoon could remain at the other school or may return to Chokchaisamakkee School.
