Gordon Ramsay says exactly what we think about LeVel33's 'Fish & Chips'

Think Fish & Chips, and one would imagine a battered fish fillet, served alongside a mound of hot fries.

But that’s apparently not the case at LeVel33, a restaurant located at Singapore’s Marina Bay Financial Centre.

The classic British pub grub was thrust into the limelight after a netizen posted a photo of the expectation-defying dish on Facebook.

So, I happily ordered “Fish and Chips” at Level33 in MBFC. At first, I thought this is just the appetizer. Turns out…

What ended up on the diner’s plate was a few sad-looking pieces of ikan bilis (okay, whitebait), sitting atop eight (we counted) sticks of potato.

In the restaurant’s defence, the diner admitted that the menu did state that the dish – under the Beer Dining menu, consists of whitebait.

Still, at $17.50 a pop, one would certainly expect a heftier portion that would not be demolished in 10 seconds.

Now, fiery-tongued celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has jumped into the fray after a netizen offered up a photo of the item for his review. And as expected, it isn’t pretty.

The British chef and resident food critic on Twitter wrote: “That’s 8 chips & 8 anchovies @ $1 each please…. the lemon is bigger than the fish!”

While we couldn’t have said it better, that’s not the harshest comment the dish has gotten.

One wrote on the diner’s Facebook: Don’t you feel cheated?, while another added, “That’s not even a fish OMG”.

But perhaps this Facebook user said it best with his comment: “Scarier den(sic) Yishun”
