While it is perceived that men are thought to be chivalrous in supporting their girlfriends, a girl in Wuhan, China seems to have challenged that stereotype – and seems to have quite sucessfully broken it.
The woman, who was photographed carrying her boyfriend across a flooded street in Wuhan, China, might be the world’s greatest girlfriend.
According to Shanghaiist, the woman did so to save her boyfriend’s “precious” leather shoes and she didn’t mind carrying him as she was in sandals.
She also said that if her boyfriend’s shoes were ruined, he would have to spend a lot of time fixing it, reported CCTVNews.
In the picture, the boyfriend was spotted smiling while hanging onto his girlfriend.
Comments about the picture on Sina Weibo drew mixed comments, and some people urged the boyfriend to “man up”.
One commenter said: “I would definitely marry that girl if I were that lucky guy. Where can I find a girl like that?”
Another said: “Like some of you said, it’s their relationship. How about you guys just mind your own business? Stop being so nosy!”
In a similar incident in February 2014, another girl in Xiamen carried her boyfriend on her back in high heels in order to save his shoes.
Shanghaiist reported that 49 per cent of those who commented praised the woman for taking care of her boyfriend, while 34 per cent of commenters thought it was humiliating for the man.
